Nitrile Rubber Gaskets

placeholder - Nitrile Rubber Gaskets - Viking Extrusions

Nitrile rubber gaskets are manufactured from a synthetic material which provides excellent resistance to most fuels, greases and oils. Nitrile gaskets offer good abrasion resistance, moderate tensile strength and mechanical properties. These properties make nitrile gaskets the top choice for use in the automotive, aerospace and oil industries. As nitrile is suited for use with petrochemicals, it is not suitable for use with ketones, and provides poor resistance to ozone and weathering.

We are able to offer:

  • One off gaskets
  • Bespoke gaskets
  • Large quantity orders
  • Standard flange gaskets
  • Specialist gasket specifications

If you are unsure which gasket material is most suitable for your application, please do not hesitate to contact us. Our experienced team will be happy to assist you in choosing the best possible gasket to meet your unique requirements.

Nitrile Material Grades

  • Fuel Resistant Nitrile/PVC – This nitrile and PVC blend has been developed for use in fuel processing and fuel transportation applications. This material is very stable, minimising fuel contamination and has reduce material swelling from fuel contact.
  • Food Contact Grade –This FDA approved nitrile grades conforms to a range of industry standards including FDA 21 CFR 177.2600. It is safe for food and beverage contact applications whilst maintaining many of the resistance properties found in other nitrile grades. Flame retardant properties and high temperature resistance make this nitrile grade popular for use in industrial food processing applications.

  • Economy/Commercial Grade – Economy grade nitrile provides a cost efficient alternative to premium nitrile grades. It has similar physical properties to premium grades; however, it does not provide the same level of fuel and oil resistance. This material is suitable for low pressure applications, where the gasket will not be put under much stress.
  • Hydrogenated Nitrile – HNBR provides enhanced resistance and physical properties when compared to standard nitrile grades. It has excellent resistance to motor oils, gas, oxidised fuels and lubricating oils. It is also resistant to deterioration from animal and vegetable fat contract. This material is typically used to produced gaskets for use in abrasive or hard wearing applications.
  • Gas Approved Nitrile – This nitrile grade has been specifically developed to meet BS EN 682:2002 requirements. It has exceptional resistance to gas and hydrocarbon fluid deterioration. This grade also has good tensile strength and flexibility properties giving it increase durability in harsh environments.
  • Metal Detectable Nitrile – This grade of nitrile contains additives which are visible to the majority of metal detector scanning equipment. Metal detectable nitrile has excellent tear and abrasion resistance. It conforms to EC 1935:2004 and is suitable for use with dry and wet foodstuffs.
  • BS2751 Grade – This nitrile grade has been developed specifically to confirm to British safety standards. It has the same resistance to oil fuel and chemicals present in other nitrile grades. However, it is also certified for use in a wide variety of construction and industrial applications.
