Silicone Rubber Joined Rings

We have 30 years’ experience joining extruded silicone tubes, strips, cords and profiles into rings of all sizes. We have a large range of in-house joining equipment and are able to supply both small prototyping batches as well as production orders of many thousands of rings.

Manufacturing Capabilities

We join silicone rings using two main methods:

Adhesive joins

We are able to join silicone rubber extrusions into rings using a range of adhesives. Adhesive based joins are generally suitable for:

  • General purpose silicone
  • Faster, lower cost joins
  • Large quantities
  • Smaller and intricate profiles
  • Silicone sponges

Compound joins

We are also able to join silicone rings using the same (uncured) compound that parts were extruded from. This is a longer process and is more suited to:

  • Large and complex profiles
  • Specialist silicone grades
  • High strength joins

Advantages of Silicone Rubber

  • Temperature Resistant – Silicone rubber is thermally stable over large temperature ranges from -60°C to + 200°C (and higher for specialist grades).
  • UV and Ozone Resistance – Silicone rubber has excellent UV and Ozone resistance, making it an ideal material choice for outdoor and long-term applications.
  • Electrical Insulation – Silicone rubber  exhibits high electrical insulation properties. It is frequently used to make gaskets and seals used for electrical enclosures.
  • Excellent Moisture Resistance – Silicone rubber can be immersed in cold, warm or boiling water for long periods of time with virtually no effect on mechanical strength or electrical properties.
  • Chemical Stability – Silicone rubber is highly inert and does not react with most chemicals. It is biocompatible and hypoallergenic and is suitable for use in food contact and baby care products.
  • Flame Retardant – Specialist additives can be added to silicone rubber compounds to give them flame retardant properties.
  • Steam Resistant – Silicone rubber is generally not deteriorated by steam at normal pressures. Special grades of silicone are available which have greater resistance to superheated or pressurised steam.

Applications of Silicone Rubber Joined Rings

We manufacture joined silicone rings for a wide range of industries and applications including:

  • Medical & Pharmaceutical – Door seals, autoclave and steriliser seals, mixer seals, passbox seals
  • Aerospace – Window seals, door seals, instrument panel gaskets, interior trim finishing
  • Food and Beverage Processing – Oven seals, refrigeration seals, door seals, mixer seals, freezer seals, tank seals.
  • Automotive – door and window seals, gaskets
  • Rail & Mass Transit – HVAC Gaskets, window seals, interior and exterior door seals, display and electrical systems gaskets, interior and exterior lighting gaskets
  • Marine – Door seals, hatch seals, propellor shaft seals. (we also manufacture Inflatable Seals).
